PayPal business debit to purchase eBay item

Why can’t I use my PayPal business debit card to pay for eBay items through PayPal ? It won’t let me add it to my PayPal wallet saying unsupported and so I can’t use it to purchase items on eBay. This doesn’t make sense to me.

Since the card draws funds from PayPal balance, select PayPal balance as the funding source when you checkout at eBay while logged in with PayPal. You can’t add the card to the PayPal Wallet, because it’s already associated with your PayPal account when you first activated the card. The card is generally for use at sites or in stores that do not have PayPal Checkout integrated (ie. Amazon).

To use the card though, try adding it to your eBay account’s payment methods settings first.

1. Go to Payments in My eBay.
2. Select Edit next to the card you want to change under Payment options.
   • If you want to add a new card select the +Add payment option instead of Edit.
3. Update or enter your card information.
4. Select Save.

Or add the PayPal debit card at eBay checkout, not logging in with PayPal at all, and elect to save card for future use:

How to pay with a credit or debit card:

1. Select Credit or debit card on the eBay checkout page, and enter your card details. eBay will secure your card and won’t share your card details with the seller.
2. If you’d like eBay to save the card details for your next purchase, select Remember this card for future orders.
3. Review your order, including your shipping details.
4. Select Confirm and pay.
