Why doesn't paypal work with my local merchants thru samsung pay anymore?

I used to be able to use paypal through samsung pay when I paid for something at a store, but that no longer works. It keeps saying insufficient funds because I don't normally keep a balance in my paypal account. How do I set up paypal to automatically withdraw the needed money from my bank checking account when I am trying to pay for something using paypal?

Hello @rbhall52

Welcome to the PayPal Community!

I'm sorry you're having trouble using your PayPal and Samsung Pay together. If you're using a PayPal Debit Card, you do have to hold a balance now to use the card. In the last few months, some updates caused this change where the card cannot be connected to a bank.

If your accounts are not connected using the PayPal Debit Card, and they're connected through an automatic subscription, I wasn't able to find any PayPal updates that should prevent you from using a preferred card or bank. I recommend checking your automatic payments here to make sure Samsung Pay is set up with your preferred payment method.

I hope this helps! If you still receive the same error message, please reach out to PayPal's Customer Support or Samsung's.

I looked at my preferred payment method, and my bank is that preferred method, and it always has sufficient funds for my purchases. I just assumed that my paypal balance had something to do with it, but I may have to contact paypal support to find out what is going on.
