Why am I getting this error '-1002' and what does it mean?

I'm getting this error:

Error code: -1002 -> Braintree: Action "authorization" not allowed for this transaction

when I'm trying to purchase something with Paypal. I have sufficient funds in my account. What does it mean? Google tells me nothing and I would like to at least know if the problem is on my side or on the vendor's side. Any help is appreciated!

Sure, I found that result as well when I googled, except I don't see how a blogpost from some video hosting site which happens to use the same error code is relevant to my situation with PayPal. Nothing in my error message mentions a 'Network Error' and the link is exclusively talking about videos not loading and whatnot, which is completely unrelated to PayPal and my situation. Just because google spews out a result doesn't mean it's about the same issue...
