Problem with paypal and a deleted account

Hello guys

 

last week I ended my paypal account. Everything seemed ok but one day later I got an email by Paypal about a payment I reclaimed accidentally. They then asked me to solve it by logging into my paypal account but that was impossible because I had it deleted…

There was no other way to get into contact with paypal to solve this problem so I made a new account to be able to contact Paypal (otherwise I would not be able to join this community obviously)

 

The way I see it Paypal needs 1.99 euro of me and they are correct about it as I reclaimed that money accidentally, I didn’t mean to do it. I just don’t see how I can do it since my former account does not exist anymore.

 

Any suggestions?

Contact options for each countries Paypal customer services are accessed by clicking help/contact bottom left of Paypal pages.

1. Paypal phones (you can use the guest option if you can't log in).
2. Live chat is also randomly available.
3. You can send them a message, (during business hours you may also be able to message whilst logged out).
4. Have you considered contacting Customer Service via Facebook or Twitter?
You can send them a private direct message via Social Media on Facebook, Twitter/X, or Instagram pages.

I simply don’t understand what is going on.

I contacted through chat with Paypal and they told me they added -1,67 euro to my account. First of all I don’t know where that number comes from and second of all what they claim they did is impossible as that paypal account does not exist anymore. I deleted it on 19/12/2023 and I have received confirmation mails that it indeed is gone. I also cannot log in anymore to that old account.

 

I’m completely clueless , I have no idea what is going on. Please help me understand this.

I apologize for the confusion caused when reaching out to Customer Support for help with the balance owed. From what you've explained, it sounds like the Customer Support representative might have covered the balance for you and canceled any associated fees. That could have caused the difference in the amount. Even though you closed the account, there is still a record of that old account held within PayPal, which would have allowed them to take care of the balance. 

To receive confirmation that the balance is satisfied, please reach out again to Customer Support using one of the Customer Support options that @kernowlass provided earlier.
