Payment refund including currency conversion

Hello. My friend have sent me 60$ but the payment was automatically converted to EUR so I got just around 52EUR and I don't want that. There is the possibility to refund this payment. If I refund the payment, will he get his money back, or will the refund include another currency conversion what means 60$ -> 52EUR and then 52EUR-> USD so he will end up with like 48USD? My idea is to refund him his payment and then tell him to make his payment again, but this time USD to USD. But I don't want to loose even more money by the refunding...

Hello @kiwwi24

Welcome! Thanks for joining the PayPal Community, this is a great question. I'm sorry to hear there's been some issues with a recent payment you've received. Previously, if a buyer received a refund within 60 days of the initial payment date, we would use the same conversion rate from the day of purchase to process their refund.

Due to currency fluctuations and higher costs for processing cross border payments, we will now guarantee the same conversion rate only on refunds processed within a day of the initial payment date.

Refunds processed more than a day after the purchase will use the latest exchange rate available that day, plus PayPal’s currency conversion fee.

My apologies for any concern this may have caused,
