My debit card was declined. Can I add it as a bank instead?

New PayPal user here! I tried connecting my MasterCard debit card to my account, but it kept getting declined.
So, I decided to add it as a bank instead. While adding it as a bank, I typed in the same 16-digit account number that was being asked when I was trying to add it as a card, and it worked!
Basically, I added my MasterCard debit card as a bank because for some reason, adding it as a card just wouldn't budge.
Are there any risks to that? What's the difference? I just transferred a small amount of money from my balance to the said connected bank account... will anything happen to it? Thank you!
(I'm sorry if this is a bit confusing, English isn't my first language so idk if I articulated this well...)

Please be informed that our security program considers a variety of factors at each transaction/activity to keep you safe. Any activity of adding a card/bank can often be blocked or declined if we detect any unusual or suspicious activity or not safe for your account in the future. Here's the Help Center Article to know why can’t the card be linked to a PayPal account.
I would recommend removing the card details from the bank section for security reasons, as it is mandatory and important to add the correct details in the right place. Since you have initiated the transfer, this transaction would be declined or the funds may be reversed back. If the funds have been deducted from your PayPal account but haven't been received on your card, please reach out to our PayPal Customer support team through the available contact options on our website so that our advisors can help you accordingly.
