I've used the same debit card for years and now suddenly paypal says I can't make purchases with it?

Hey everyone! Having this really weird issue that started today.

For years I was able to buy games off Epic and Steam using paypal and the debit card(mastercard) which I've attached to it. Earlier today, I purchased something with no issues but then suddenly, one hour later, I make another purchase on steam and paypal tells me that my card is not authorized? Even though nothing has changed about my account? I've already checked with my bank (BPI), there are no issues on their end. I am still able to send money to someone using my debit card but yet I am unable to buy games with it? Sometimes, I get a different message saying that the card can't be used to make purchases and I'm very confused. Help????

Hello @TennoTurian,

Thanks for joining the PayPal Community!

I'm sorry to hear you've been unable to make a purchase from Steam. I recommend reviewing this Help Center article to learn more about potential reasons the payment could have been declined. If those options do not fit, you might be running into PayPal's Security System. The Security System reviews all transactions and can prevent payments from going through if it detects higher-than-average risk. To help payments go through smoothly, I recommend ensuring you're logging in from one consistent device with your location services turned on.

If you continue to encounter errors, you can reach out to Customer Support by clicking on 'Contact' at the bottom of any PayPal website.

I hope this information helps and you can make the purchase soon!

Regards,

Shradha
