How to receive and send USD when default currency is Euro?

Hi there! So I live in Ireland and work as a freelancer so I often get paid via PayPal from US companies. They will send me payments in USD, but they will arrive in my PayPal account in Euros with a huge chunk gone to PayPal's high exchange rates and fees. I have a USD Revolut account so I would love to just receive my payments in USD and transfer them directly to Revolut in USD, but for some reason I cannot figure out if that's possible.

I have received payments to PayPal in USD before so I have USD set up as a secondary currency, and have withdrawn this money in Euros to my Irish bank account in the past. For some reason though, for the past year or so, American payments coming into my PayPal always convert to Euros. Is there a way to fix this?

I have a very similar problem, but with sending payments that need to be done in USD. I already set USD as currency for the credit card I want to use. The card itself is free of additional fees when it comes to payments or transactions in foreign currencies. But when used in PayPal there would be a fee, together with a very bad exchange rate.

Anyone able to help with this topic?

Scary, the lack of reply here after a month or so... does that mean "it's no longer possible"?

It could be the case, mind you. PayPal has to get money from somewhere. And now that inside the EU/EEC they're not allowed to charge for money transfers to one's bank at home, I guess they force the double-currency exchange, if you receive US$ and wish to acquire a product/service in US$ — it gets converted to Euro first, and back again.
