How do I cancel a request and why does PayPal take so long? United Kingdom,

I tried to add £5 to my account on the 3rd January, PayPal said it will come on like the 11th I don’t understand why it takes so long and I checked the other day and the 11th January bit is crossed out?? How do I cancel the request the money hasn’t even come out my bank!

Unfortunately you can't cancel a processing payment either adding or withdrawing funds.

Normally when you send funds ie paying a seller paypal will credit the seller upfront and paypal will wait for the bank transfer ie echeque to complete. This is because they use the slowest (cheapest) option and it has to go via ACH in batches once its left your bank account. However if you are adding funds or sending a friends/family echeque payment then the wait is on your side unfortunately.
