Why is this so hard? How do I create a NEW automatic payment?

Literally all I want to do is set up a monthly donation to a charity I support (not a commercial one listed by PayPal). How on earth do I create a new monthly automatic payment? And why the heck is this so difficult?

Its not, you set it up on the charity or merchants website.

I am neither the charity nor the merchant, thus I cannot set it up on their site. I have definitely done this somehow in the past. If I needed to pay my roommate or my landlord monthly, there must be a way for me to set up a recurring payment to someone.

The merchant or the charity set it up on their site for you if you want to make a subscription.

So, you are saying that PayPal will not allow me to set up my own auto payment to a vendor of my choosing? Except, I just did this recently. Was this function disabled for some reason?

Thanks for the help @kernowlass! I see you're looking to set up monthly donations to the charity. Donors can select the monthly check box at the time of donation to give automatic monthly payments. As @kernowlass mentioned, automatic payments are agreements with a merchant for a service or subscription item and this monthly payments set up can be done the first checkout with the merchant.
