Refunds

I sent some money to a friend. I realised within the hour that I had missed a letter out in their email address. I cancelled the transaction. In my activity records the transaction is shown as cancelled and the money as refunded. On my bank statement the amount shows as being deducted twice, once to the incorrect address and once to the correct address. It has been 6 days since the money was deducted. PayPal help pages state up to 5 days for a refund into a bank account. Today is the 6th day. Is it normal for refunds directly into bank accounts to take longer than 5 days? I don’t want to sit for hours on hold if I just need to be more patient

Gosh you were lucky, if that incorrect email address actually was valid you may have had trouble getting your money back.

However refunds to bank accounts may take up to 5 working days, while refunds to credit or debit cards may take up to 30 days.
