Refund currency conversion rates

Greetings, Recently I’ve made a purchase from a British website in GBP. I used my debit card to pay for the transaction (in the currency Polish Zloty). I was charged 4594.12 PLN (the conversion rate is 1:0.1753. I was informed the next day that the product wasn’t in stock, so the company refunded me immediately. However I was refunded with only 4346.85 PLN (1: 0.1852). Clearly it was stated on the PayPal website if the refund was made on the same date, the conversion rate would be the same. The purchase was made on 16th of December 2021, and refunded on 17th of December 2021. So my question is, how can I lose almost 6% of funds within a day? Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Hi Daniel2009,

Thank you for contacting the PayPal Community Forum and welcome as a new member!

Your question is very account specific and we would be unable to tell you why this has happened over a public forum. I would suggest contacting us via Facebook - https://www facebook.com/PayPal/, Twitter - @AskPayPal., chat or phone and we would be happy to advise.

I have exactly the same problem. I lose about 6% because of refund.

The difference is that my transaction is 1600 USD and it takes me about a month before the refund.

I am trying to talk to PayPal member. They keep saying this is normal but it certainly not.

This is illegal. We need to do something on this.
