Paypal gave someone else's address to vendor?

I made a payment to a vendor on bricklink using paypal. Why did paypal give the vendor someone else's address, and not the one on my account? I know it's not some random think the vendor is making up, because the name and address are that of someone I sent a few bucks to nearly a decade ago.

it's possible that there was an address associated with your account during a checkout on the merchant's website. That can sometimes create a situation where the address only comes up when you're checking out on that merchant's website or other merchants' websites that use the same type of checkout.

Now that I've been prompted to think about it, I do remember at one point I purchased something from the bioware store to be shipped to this person. If I understand what you're saying right, bricklink is using the same transaction service or something that had remembered that and presented it as my address, yes? If so, do you know how I might prevent this from happening again?

Best to always check when paying via a website that at checkout they have your paypal registered address selected and not an address they have on their website.

Hi @Zem_H

Thank you for posting in, and joining, the PayPal Community Forum! I'm sorry that the incorrect address was what was selected for a transaction in a merchant's checkout.

In addition to the helpful advice given by @kernowlass, you can also contact PayPal Customer Service to request that the individual gift addresses be removed. They can only be removed manually by a representative in discussion with you. To find your contact options, click Contact at the bottom of the PayPal website.

I hope this helps for future transactions!

Olivia
