Hey guys, does anyone know what the threshold is tpo make instant transfers overseas via family and friends? I’ve transferred what is the eq equivalent of £100 instantly but when I up that payment to £400 it takes just over a week to transfer so I’m wondering in between the £100 and £400 what is the threshold for Australian transfers to the Uk?

Transfers from bank accounts are never instant as Paypal use electronic transfers ie echeques (cheaper but slower).

Funds normally leave your bank account from a few hours > few days later but they take several working days to clear through to the seller/Paypal as they go via ACH in batches.

Its called instant because normally Paypal credit the seller upfront and then Paypal take the wait for the funds to transfer, this is so you get your item without delay.

However there are times however when its you and the seller / recipient that take the wait for the echeque to clear and here are some of the reasons...

1. Back up card has expired or needs updating.
2. You have had a recent negative balance or failed bank transfer (so paypal are not going to credit the seller in advance in case it happens again).
3. For some high cost riskier payments / transactions.
4. Friends / family payments *funded from a bank account* as this option is free then its you that takes the wait this time.
5. Clearing a negative balance.

Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Thanks but I’m only transferring via friends and family, I can immediately transfer £50 and they receive it immediately but when I up the amount to £400 transferring to the same person - with money in my account - it takes a week for them to get the money 😞 I just don’t know what amount between that I can transfer so they get it immediately

Hi everyone! Thank you @kernowlass for getting the resolution rolling on this thread.

@Sarahisthebest, There's not exactly a set amount that you can or cannot send instantly. Like all transactions sent via PayPal, your payment attempt is analyzed real-time and a decision is made based off of many, many factors to either allow the payment to process as an instant transfer, eCheck, or even sometimes - not at all. Best thing I can recommend is to make sure your account and financial information is all confirmed and up-to-date. From there, our system will try to balance the most convenient yet safest option available.

My apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. Good luck with your transactions in the future!
