I am not a seller. I received an amount from a friend (more than $600) and there is a hold on it. It says it needs 7 days. I am an international student so I don't have a SSN or anything similar. So I can't be running a business to begin with. But it keeps treating the payment like good/services (so, like an actual sale) while it's just some money my friend sent me. How can I deal with this?

Sounds as if he sent the funds using the goods/services option instead of friends/family??

Yes. I believe so. I asked him to inform Paypal that this was a mistake. How long do you think it takes to fix it?

Don't think you can change it AFTER the payment has been sent.

He can ask customer services but I don't think they can or will do anything if the payment has completed?

OR is it pending waiting for you to accept it?
