How long does it take when a customer transfers money for it to appear in my paypal balance

A transaction record with a payment status will appear in your account Activity feed fairly instantly. If not, there might be an typo in the recipient email address, you didn’t confirm email address or you’re dealing with a scammer.

PayPal does not ask you to buy gift cards, pay a fee upfront in order to receive a payment (especially when PayPal already auto calculates and deducts any applicable consumer or merchant fees before giving you the rest).
