EU account: How to move USD from PayPal to any service?

Hi,

We're a merchant located in the EU. We accept USD for a service and now we want to withdraw our PayPal balance to our Revolut bank account. We're faced with the following two less than ideal situations:

1. transferring to the Revolut (or any) bank account forces our USD balance to be converted to EUR. Needless to say, it goes through an absurd conversion rate.

2. transferring via a Revolut card is not possible as Revolut only offers MasterCard and PayPal requires a VISA. But it may be possible via another third-party (Skrill, N26?) VISA

How do we get our USD out of PayPal and avoid conversion rates?

Thanks!

@Dewde

Withdrawals to bank accounts are always in local currency.

Of course, already said in the OP, but is there a way to withdraw USD in the EU region?

Thank you @kernowlass for your assistance on this thread!

Hello @Dewde, welcome back! After a bit of research, I found the only option you may have in Romania is to transfer funds to your bank. The option to transfer funds to a debit, credit, or prepaid card is not available in every country.

Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause,

All the information is in my OP already. The option to withdraw to a card is indeed available in Romaina, just not on VISA. Only on MasterCard. If the only option to withdraw OUR funds to a bank account involves involuntary currency exchange, we'll soon start our migration away for PayPal. Our hard-worked funds should be our own, not lose 50% of our profit margin on unnecessary currency exchange.

Thanks again for the clarification @Dewde. I wasn't able to find the option to transfer to a card in Romania, but thank you for letting me know you did! If you see the option to transfer funds to your MasterCard, and your MasterCard's currency is set to USD, then USD funds would not be converted to your local currency during the withdraw to that MasterCard.

Sorry for the confusion and have a great day!

JonK.. that is purely a marketing thing. There are no providers that issue VISAs to businesses, so while this USD transfer works in theory, it does't work in practice. This is probably why PayPal only accepts VISAs anyway for such withdraws, as they don't really work anyway. Specifically, we use Revolut and they only issue MasterCards, like all others of their kind.

So no, this doesn't work. Hence my OP.

I repeat my questions:

  • How do we withdraw USD in the EU region without the absurd currency exchange?
  • Do you know of any online banks that issue VISAs to customers so we can withdraw to that instead?
