Hi What does a Direct Debit Instruction mean on PayPal account, does this mean a specific amount will come out of my bank account each month? Thank you.

When you add a bank account to paypal it sets up the direct debit mandate so that paypal can take authorised payments for any purchases you make (or pay your Ebay fees).
No company eg water/electric can take funds from your bank account on a regular basis without that direct debit.
However the amount shown is always the ''last'' transaction / amount that you paid to a seller via paypal.

Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Thank you for your reply. I sent money to family & friends, and on my bank account it said ‘PayPal Payment DD’ Can you please confirm that this doesn’t mean I have a direct debit with a company and I won’t be auto debited next month?

Hello @colleenb111,

Welcome to the PayPal community and thank you for your post!

I understand your concern about sent money via Friends and Family but shows as Direct Debit. In the UK to confirm a bank account, we need to set up a direct debit instruction with your bank. However, it doesn't mean it is a recurring payment. To send money through PayPal using a bank account we need to be able to collect money directly from a bank account. By setting up a direct debit instruction we have the bank account holder's authorization to do this and the same is reflected in your bank statement.

I hope this helps,

Ayesha
