I was charged taxes on a used item, the seller said sorry but said she doesn’t know why it happened. What should I do?

Hi @Chloe2016,

We welcome you to the PayPal Community!

I'm sorry that you were charged tax when that was not mentioned in your order. Are you looking to have the tax refunded? That would be an arrangement you would work out with the seller if possible. If you were charged a higher amount than expected, you can open up a PayPal billing dispute to have things reviewed. That's if you are unable to resolve directly with the merchant. If you paid using a card, there would be a fee taken in that situation. Fees can be reviewed on the PayPal website. Taxes are typically charged by the merchant though, so it may be best to get back in contact with them. If needed, they can simply send you money in the difference from the tax.

I hope this helps!

Thank you,

-Schae.
