Ok, on the USPS web site it costs $4.95 to ship a Small Flate Rate box, it has ALWAYS cost me $4.85 on Pay Pal, today it cost me $5.00 Why is this, anyone else had this happen? I just checked the USPS site and they did not increase the rate so why is PayPal making it $5.00?

ok, it looks as though the USPS raises the rates of all Flat rate boxes. I thought I saw it said on the USPS web site that the small flat rate was $5.00 now, but Pay Pal says the new price is $5.20 for small rate so I guess they still gave me a break on the shipping. Check the USPS web site for the other boxes, they all went up! Funny the USPS commercial on TV the other day still said 4.85!

It depends on what zone you are sending it to. Those closer to you will still be 4.95, others will be higher

By the way: Flat Rate Boxes and Envelopes have the same price for any zone in the USA including APO/FPO, Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico, etc. and regardless of weight.
However, it also has different rates for shipping to Canada and Mexico, or any other countries.
(Note: APO/FPO do get a $2.00 discount on the Large Flat Rate Box)

That sounds like an error at your post office. If you put $5.00 of postage on a USPS produced Small Flat Rate Box no additional postage is due.
By the way, you don't have to take it to the counter. You can drop it in the box or just leave it in the box at your home for the mailman to take.

The Small Flat Rate Box is $5.20 retail rate, $5.00 online discount (Commercial Base) rate, since January 2, 2011.
I just checked the USPS calculator and http://www.usps.com/prices/ and both pages have the correct rates on them.
If you want to save a quarter, stuff the Small Flat Rate Box inside a Flat Rate Envelope.
