Connecting my UPS to Paypal

I have had a Paypal account for years and was never able to use my UPS account. I have a UPS account number. For some reason when I try to use it through Paypal it comes up saying my contact information is different than what is on file for UPS. I have checked both accounts and have no idea what Paypal is referring too. My address is exactly the same in both places and I don't know what else to look for. It is very inconvenient because instead of going through paypal to print my labels I have to go to UPS directly. Can someone help me figure this out once and for all. Thanks.

I am now dealing with mess with UPS, but I'm dealing with something I haven't seen anyone talk about. I tried everything that you guys did, but I can't even make labels shipping with USPS!! It wont let me out of the UPS loop. I have to go to the post office or office supply store to ship everything, very annoying. I've been printing labels for a month with no problems, then all of a sudden today, nothing. Any Ideas???

I keep getting "User ID already exists" message when I try to link my UPS account number to PayPal.
I followed all the steps listed. I deleted my UPS account, signed up for a new account through PayPal and I got an error that said it didn't work. SO I follow more tips and signed up for a UPS account through UPS.
Now I keep getting emails from UPS with my new account information. I have UPS send me three different emails in the last 5 minutes with three new account numbers.
PayPal, this is terrible! UPS has not worked for months. What is the point of having this service as an option if it does not work!?
This is why I ship externally with FedEx and do not use PayPal.

After struggling horribly with this for 48 hours, I finally called UPS.
Ten transfers later I got it figured out.
The problem is related to the phone number on your paypal shipping preferences.
I had tried no less than 100 times to get this working in every browser, with every combination possible, no success.
They advised I change my phone # and it worked immediately.
The number they had me use was 402 555 2222
Hope this helps, I know I wish they would put the info up here like you wouldn't believe....I can't tell you how much time I wasted scouring the internet for a solution to this.

Hi diab0lik,
My post that I made on the page before yours actually did have that solution as one of the things to try. I can understand why you missed it, since it got buried in the thread. I also understand by it got buried, because others are experiencing the issue. It's a bit of a vicious cycle.
To anyone else experiencing issues with the link between UPS and PayPal, please check out my post on page 4 of this thread. There are a few different steps to try.

Olivia,
I read your comment about posting the fix that I was advised over the phone....and I checked the previous page to mine (page 4) and only found one post by you (actually read the whole thread again to be sure...)
Your Post:
Hi everyone,
I haven't forgotten you, but I also haven't had anything new to report. It's still being worked on, and I will report when we have it fixed.
In the meanwhile, for those of you who have not already tested to see if the fix works for you, please try the following workarounds which may help you. I already know that there are a few of you for whom these fixes do not work, but newcomers to the thread should certainly give them a shot:
1. Remove your UPS account and then add it back in by selecting that you have an existing UPS account. If that doesn't work,
2. Double-check your address information. Delete any trailing spaces, check to make sure the abbreviations (if any) match on PayPal and in your UPS account. If that doesn't work,
3. Remove your UPS account and the create a new UPS account through PayPal.
I have checked with all of my colleagues to see if I can find more tips or workarounds in the meanwhile, and I have collected a couple more things to try that we did not talk about previously on this thread:
1. Check in your shipping profile and make sure that your ship-from phone number is added.
2. Try deleting your UPS account from your PayPal account, then sign up for a new UPS account on the UPS site. Then come back to your PayPal account and add the new account number in there.
I have heard that one or the other of these is working for some people where the other workarounds have not - nsayer, you may want to give these a try.
Let me know what works for you, and I promise I will be back as soon as I know more.
Olivia
The only thing I see you mentioning about a phone number is to make sure that your ship from phone number is included.
I would like to clarify that mine was from start to finish and it did absolutely no good. The solution (for me at least) was to put in this arbitrary phone number 402 555 2222.
Having my actual phone number in there (again - as it was from the start) did absolutely nothing. The second I put in the number above it worked instantly.
I even told the rep on the phone (who was very nice fwiw) that they should post the info on here at the very least because there was a lot of people having the exact same problem. He just stammered a bit and disregarded my suggestion. He also made it clear that he was aware others were having this problem and he had been advising this fix for some time.
My only real point being that I'm a bit shocked that your company's knowledge sharing skills appear nonexistant at best, and I'm left wondering why in the world this information hasn't been made properly available by now, as he told me up front he was "99% sure" he knew what the problem was and exactly how to fix it. Let us not even begin to wonder how hard it could possibly be to fix whatever minor coding error is causing this problem in the first place...
Not to mention that the "dedicated paypal number" I was directed to call first led me to a woman (who sounded to be most certainly in an indian call center) who insisted that I had in fact called eBay, not paypal, and that she would have to transfer me to paypal. The following rep then told me they had to transfer me to another anonymous department, and the ensuing rep there transferred me to the "shipping department" where my problem was finally (after 10+ minutes on the phone and confirming my info and explaining my situation FOUR times).fixed -- in under two minutes.
Honestly, it is at best shamefull that this workaround which has been known for at least ahwhile was not made public knowledge, let alone the problem fixed long ago. The issue clearly is not on UPS's end as each attempt to create an account leads to paypal saying it failed and users getting a confirmation email with a shipper number inside. I dare not think how many tens of thousands of excess shipper accounts this fiasco is responsible for. I now am the proud owner of 89 accounts, 88 of which are completely worthless and unnecessary.
God only knows how many people without the wherewithall to find a help forum are pulling their hair out over this as I speak.
With the ridiculous amount of revenue paypal generates, you would really think they could afford to put one competent person on the issue of straightening out whatever code has been so horribly botched. I suppose that might be asking a bit much since passing along a simple message through your own forum was an order too tall to fill. Perhaps management are all too busy Scrooge McDucking dabloon-filled pools.
Olivia -- I realize you are only the messenger. Maybe in a perfect world you even pass my message along.

Even trying "no UPS account", I still get the loop back to "User ID exists". I guess I'll try deleting my UPS accounts. I haven't been able to ship anything on those, so I won't be loosing any records, this half my morning.

Fwiw, at the time of my successful linking, I also did not have a myups account with the same email address as my paypal account. Can't say if it makes a difference or not but I hope its helpful. I would call customer solutions....and ask for the shipping department (that's who I spoke with). Also find it a little troubling that this forum tries to stop you from posting this company's customer service number....they have a replacement matrix to omit it if its properly formatted, and when I altered the format, sometime since 6am someone took it upon themselves to manually remove it from my post. Removing information that could help frustrated customers seems like horrible policy to me. I just know I tried everything and my problem was quickly resolved once I talked to the appropriate customer service depatment. Good luck.

I'll post instructions for getting the CS number:
Click Contact Us, then click Call Us. Then Call us. Then you have the option of continuing without logging in to get a number specific to the region detected by your browser, or logging in and getting a number specific to your account, as well as a webpin number that breezes you through validation.
Phone numbers are filtered for a number of reasons, one of which being that they may change or be repurposed.

Good Morning, Everyone............
Olivia, Here's something new. Since we're not getting anywhere with the UPS issue and I still need to print shipping labels, I tried to switch to USPS. I got a note window saying the buyers address could not be pre-filled, my eBay username had not been added to Paypal account. Following the note, I couldn't find the "Auctions" link until I switched to classic profile view (that took three tries to find). When I did switch it on I still got the same window telling me to add my eBay username.
Is anyone out there that can help us? I'm tired of cut and paste.
