Using green dot for balance and then using balance to pay for items

I purchased some items earlier tonight and then got a call from them saying it would take 3 - 7 business days to clear.  So they recommended I buy green dot and add that amount to my balance so they will be instantly credited.

I am at a loss now how to transfer my balance to pay for the items.

Welcome to the boards!

It sounds like you have sent some eChecks, which take about three to five business days to clear and be credited to your seller.  Using GreenDot MoneyPaks can be an excellent alternative if you desire an instant payment, but I would caution you to check that the seller has refunded the eCheck first - or you would be double paying them.

If you would prefer to keep debiting your bank account, but have the sellers receive funds instantly, you can register a credit or debit card on your account.  This will free up the ability to use Instant Transfer, which will still debit your bank.

If and when you do need to send the funds to the sellers manually, you can do so by going to Send Money and then filling out the form.  You'll want to write down the sellers email address from the other payment first so you have it readily available.

Hope this helps,

Adrian

Thank you for responding.

I found if I had put the money in my balance before purchasing the item I could choose if I wanted to use an e-check or use the cash balance.

So now I know I can choose with some balance in my account.
