Pay with my paypal account for ebay item someone else purchased

How do I use my paypal account to pay for an item purchased on ebay by my grandson?  He has an ebay account but not a paypal account and I would like to pay for it using my paypal account and make sure the seller gets notified and my grandsons shipping address gets to the seller.

Hi Jackman, and welcome to the forums!

Your grandson will sign into his account, and get to the item to be paid for. Then he will pass the keyboard to you. When you go to pay for the item and it asks you to sign into the PayPal account, sign into your own PayPal account. Change the shipping address for the transaction to his address and name. That sets it up as a gift address, because you're buying it as a gift for him.

I hope that helps!

Thanks and I will keep this method on file. My only problem this time is that I am not along side him.  He is across the state from where I am so he can't pass off the keyboard.  Maybe that is a real big problem.

Thanks! Man Wink

Hi Jackman,

Yeah, being in the same room makes it easier. I would definitely advise against password sharing (either of your PayPal account or his eBay account) as that creates risk on both accounts, and also is a violation of the user agreement.

Your grandson could set up a PayPal account and pay for the item and then you could reimburse him. Would that work out for you?

Thanks for all of your help. I think your other option will be the best we can do and it's not any real problem.

Thanks again!
