UK Economy Postage Rate not available

 I am frustrated. In order to keep costs down to my buyers I list my auctions with postage showing as 'Economy Postage' in Ebay. When the buyer has paid for the item and I go to print off the postage label there is no option available for me to select the Economy Postage rate - the rates shown in the drop down list are all in the first class rates.

Is there something that I can do about this at all - any help would be appreciated.

There are a few different services available for you to purchase through your PayPal account if you wish. These are:

Royal Mail Services

- Royal Mail 1st Class
- Recorded Delivery
- Special Delivery 9am
- Special Delivery Next Day
- Standard Parcels
- Airmail
- Airsure

Parcelforce Services

- Parcelforce 24
- Parcelforce 48
- Parcelforce International Datapost
- Parcelforce Global Priority

If it is the case that you are trying to purchase a particular service through your PayPal account, it may be a technical issue. Can you please let me know what type of postage that you are attempting to buy and also exactly where you are facing difficulties and I can get it passed on to our technical teams.

We have received a few queries in regards to difficulties that people are facing when trying to purchase overseas postage and we are getting the information passed on to our technical teams.

Just to give you an update on this. We received notification yesterday evening to advise that there are some known technical issues when customers attempt to purchase postage through their PayPal accounts. At this time, all I can advise is that we are trying to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

I do not have an expected timeframe for this issue to be resolved but if I hear anything in the mean time, I will get back to you with an update.

Thanks for the informion and subsequent update - fingers crossed. Can you just confirm that when the technical issues are resolved that 2nd class (economy) postage will be then available to us users?

So I have found out the hard way. i have now two postal transactions charged to my account which did not work. This is a pain since I have to go through the hassle of claiming a refund. If you know there is a glitch maybe you clever guys at PayPal could put up an error message BEFORE charging your customers accounts!

Sorry to hear your grief Pedro and you do have my sympathy. I have got around this by using the Royal Mail's own online postage service which does have the economy rates available and the printing process is much the same as for the PayPal version albeit a bit more long winded as you have to do direct input of addresses. But it does work so I use it for teh time being until the guys at PayPal sort this out. Its a shame as cjristmas is coming up. Oh well!!!!

I too have been getting the same problem.   I've now just gone through all my listings and removed the 2nd class postage option so people can't choose it.  I've lost out on money already with two buyers choosing this option and then me having to print 1st class postage instead.  It may only be pennies different, but it all adds up!

Well, well, PayPal guys - this is now over a year old and as far as I can tell we still do not have an Ecomoy Postage rate (2nd class rate in UK) available to us in PayPal postage purchasing. 

Is this ever likely to actually happen?

At the moment and as far as I am aware there will be no change in postage options. 

I assure you all that I have forwarded all of your feedback and requests to have the postage updated.
