How do I show proof of postage with a certificate of posting?

I listed an item on ebay and in my listing, I specified that I would be posting second class non trackable. The buyer claimed he didn't receive the item and open a case without even contacting me first.

I need to show to paypal that the item was posted but I have a certfifcate of posting and the default for the proof of posting on the case is a trackable posting, how do I resolve this?

Hey there tito2011,

With a PayPal case for non-receipt the dispute is not that you have posted the item, but that the item has not been delivered.

A tracking number is needed and I regret that there is no working around for this.

You can try and contact Royal Mail and see if theres any further information on the delivery of the item they can give you and you can submit that, however I can’t guarantee that it will be used in the case.

I also have an issue with paypal when it comes to this. When you speak to them they ask for proof of postage and their PUBLISHED terms also refers to proof of postage but what they actually mean is that they want to see a signature.  They don't seem to understand that in the English language the words postage and delivery have different definitions.

Paypal is completely unwilling to assist us as sellers and is artificially driving up the price by forcing us to use recorded delivery options. Of course this has nothing to do with the fact that they charge a fee on the TOTAL transaction value.

So unless your customer signed in his own blood (so that Paypal can do DNA analysis) you can say goodbye to your money.

To add insult to injury, eBay (who owns Paypal) WON’T automatically refund you FVF when they (I mean Paypal – they are different companies when it suits them) refunds the buyer.
