Money withdrawn from my account using another paypal account (unauthorized)

Hi community! I have been an unfortunate victim of a fraud to my account. I received an e-mail back from a paypal a few days ago that said my account had been added to a new phone number and if this wasn't me to change my password. I did this but then noticed charges to my bank account for withdrawals from Paypal which do not show up in my Paypal account and of course were not made by me. I believe someone used my bank account number through paypal to withdraw money from my account. I have since changed my account but my bank states they are unable to reimburse this as the issue is not from the bank but through Paypal. I am wondering if anyone has had this experience and how they were able to get their money back?

Thanks in advance

Are you sure it was a Paypal email and not a spoof? Did you click on any links in that email to change your password or phone any numbers in the email?

If you did then you allowed them access to your paypal account.

If they are not showing up on your Paypal account then contact customer services and see if your bank account was used to make guest payments.

Contact options for each countries Paypal customer services are accessed by clicking help/contact bottom left of Paypal pages.

1. Paypal phones (you can use the guest option if you can't log in).
2. Live chat is also randomly available.
3. You can send them a message, (during business hours you may also be able to message whilst logged out).
