Case denied and scammer got away with it... no appeal button!

Hello,

So, like many of you, I have been on the receiving end of a scammer and my case got denied. I went to the PP website to appeal but, of course, there is no "appeal button" next to the scammer's transaction and I did follow all the instructions.

Here is the short version of my story. I ordered two items, only received one and filed a claim which was denied because, wait for it, the scammer provided tracking information! That's right! Now, if you want to scam people, just provide tracking information and you're good to go! Is this what PP is now? If PP can't provide protection to the buyers, what use is there for PP? I can just use my credit card right? Oh, and also, the PP fees... so I pay them for nothing?

I have provided all the evidence I could, including an email conversation with the scammer where he clearly states that he will send the missing item, and of course doesn't, and still, not enough to defeat the "mighty" power of the tracking number! I have included a screenshot of feedbacks left on their business and many people had an issue similar.

So, I got scammed for $20... what will it be next time? A $100 and PP will not be here to offer buyers protection! Is PP really that desperate?

Chris

In the event of an item not received dispute then yes all the seller has to do is provide trackable proof of delivery.

The process is mostly automated so tracking provided = seller wins.

However, why would you select that option?

You should have opened a dispute for item received but not as described ie insufficient quantity of items.

Paypal does provide some buyer and some seller protection but you have to read up on it and use it correctly.

Well, I picked this option because it made sense! How does "not as described" fit the dispute description? I clearly did not receive all the items?

If you didn't receive all the items then what you received was not as described was it, because they described and you paid for all the items.

As I said non receipt is easily negated with a tracking number.

You can still appeal within 10 days but don't think they have appeal options now.

Contact customer services and ask them to open a second dispute as you have now received the item but its not as described.

HOWEVER once its a claim paypal don't get involved in getting the seller to send again OR deal in part refunds. So, if you win Paypal would tell you to send the item you received back to the seller (trackable at your own expense) before getting a full refund on delivery.

Hard to advise without knowing the item you ordered?

It was a cell phone case and a screen protector. I never received the case.

Then personally I would select the option above the one you posted, ie item received but missing parts ie the case advertised that it came with.
