are services also protected by the paypal buyer protection? like we want to book something (a boat trip), and they ask for a prepayment of 50% of the total amount. would this fall under buyer protection? thanks

Hello @kimo_27, thanks for your reply! I'm sorry that wasn't clear. Services (including travel) such as you've described are not in the "Ineligible Items and Transactions" list, and as long as the transaction meets all the line items detailed in the  "Transaction eligibility for PayPal Buyer Protection" section, it would be "eligible" for Purchase Protection. However, as in every dispute or claim, our specialists would need to review all the details of the case to provide an outcome, including the dispute reason and information provided by the seller.
