Seller protection?

Hello, I’m selling an item on Depop and a buyer has asked to pay directly through PayPal, bypassing Depop platform. That could benefit me as they charge over 12% and it’s a high value item. However, looking through the seller protection I’m a bit concerned. This item is 100% genuine but fraudsters are claiming the item they receive isn’t and then claim it back from PayPal. Sellers are failing to stop these claims as PayPal seem to protect the buyer more than the seller. What are your thoughts? I read another person/buyer claimed they never received item months after as it was no longer traceable as it had been so long.

@Pinkhaze

what you have to do is sell on the platform, and get paid on it.
it keeps the precise announcement of your sale (detail of the object)

How do I prove that I sent an item to a buyer?

If a buyer reports a dispute or complaint about an item they didn't receive, you may need to provide proof that you already sent the item to the buyer. To provide this type of proof, you can use a delivery company offering online tracking. The recipient's name and address in the online tracking information must match those displayed on the Transaction Details page. For transactions involving items valued at $750 or more (or the equivalent in other currencies), also keep an online receipt with the recipient's signature as proof of delivery.

It is important that you meet the postage requirements to be eligible for Seller Protection. If the buyer asks you to deliver the item to an address different from the one indicated on the Transaction Details page, we recommend that you contact them to arrange a refund and ask them to make a new payment with the correct delivery address. delivery. You can view detailed postage terms relating to Seller Protection in our Terms of Use.

hello @Pinkhaze , many scams use this principle.

leave the secure circuit of a sales site.

your merchant protection will drop or be canceled as well.

it is therefore a huge risk for you.

@Pinkhaze

for your question, selling online, I stopped.
hand delivery and without paypal (payment in cash)
too many scams exist with distance selling.
