Immediately after setting up my PayPal, my history said I owe "erin niell" $499.99 for a "Bitcoin transaction". I know this is a scam because I've never done anything to involve myself in bitcoin. How do I report it or delete it from my history? Can I do this through PayPal or do I need to contact the scammer directly?

Gees, that is concerning…already hit with spam invoices and the account is new account. You can contact customer services and they’ll take care of that for you:
https://www.paypal.com/us/smarthelp/contact-us
Click “Message Us” or “Call Us” option on the bottom.
Or reach out to PayPal at Facebook or Twitter:
A bad actor either targeted your PayPal email address or by coincidence randomly sent you phony invoices by misusing PayPal Invoicing feature.
Beef up security for your device too. Check for malware/virus. Secure your other accounts too. Read more about Security.
Another option is to close your account, wait a week or so and open a new account with same email or different email address.
Close account checklist:
1. Resolve any open disputes or account limitations.
2. Zero out the balance.
3. Cancel any active automatic payments.
4. Remove financial info (bank accounts, cards).
5. Go to Settings.
6. Click Close Account under Account Options section.
- All pending payment will be automatically canceled.
- To close your account, you must be logged into the PayPal website.
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
