I recently had an unauthorized transaction made. I was refunded the money but it was to an old debit card. How would I get the refund? I went to my bank and they told me I need to go through PayPal and see if you guys can refund the money to my new debit card. My bank is saying if I file a dispute it might not get approve since I do have a PayPal account.

If the card ACCOUNT that both cards belong or belonged to is still open then it should go through fine.
However if its a completely new card / account then it may decline so ask your old card issuer if they can help you recover your refund.

Refunds always go back to the card account used to fund the original purchase.

Thanks. I’ve received the refund but the money was refunded to a card thats no longer activated due to fraudulent activity. So what do I need to do so the refund can be back in my account? My bank is giving me the run around and saying I need to contact PayPal.

As i said if the card account is still open it will still go back to that account, if not it is still sent to the card you used and you need to sort out how to access it with your card issuer. Paypal can't do anything with a refund they do not have as they auto-sent it to your card.
