Hi.
i had the same thing seller asked for friend & Family payment for £300.
After I paid he sold the item to another buyer for £300.
My card company got my money back but 6 weeks later reversed the payment back to the buyer through PayPal instructions.
Now my card company is issuing a fruad case 75 against him.
paypal were told 12 times that this guy was conning people but just ignored my emails.
PayPal are happy to take your fees but when it comes to issues like this they are not bothered.
i am also taking this seller to court for conning people.

Hi @Stobart,
Thank you for your post and welcome to our Community Help Forum!
I understand how this can be frustrating. Personal payments are intended for sending a gift, splitting a lunch bill, paying your share of the living expenses, and everyday exchanges of money between friends and family. This payment option should not be used as a method of payment for purchases of items or services. For more information about the Terms and Conditions of this policy, you should review the "Terms of use" section, accessible from the "Legal agreements" link at the bottom of any PayPal page.
I hope this helps.
Cristina

A friends / family (or gift payment) is intended as a transfer of funds from family or friends to one another. For this reason, there is no processing fee when payment is made with bank or PayPal balance.
However as it is a gift payment, there is also no Buyer protection as no goods or services should have been exchanged.
If he was not a close mate or family member you should never use that option as it enables the seller to evade paying his paypal fees and negates your buyer protection at the same time.
You also 'risk' having your account limited as using that option for purchasing goods is against Paypal rules.
If you funded your paypal payment via a credit card then contact your card issuer and see if they will help you but unfortunately they may decline as well as it was a gift payment.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
