Received an email that I've been paid but no activity in account

I received an email from a gmail account that looks like its from paypal (even scrolling over it with the cursor it says paypal) stating that I've been paid for an item that I'm selling.  When I look in my account at the activity there's nothing there.  No sort of transaction has occured.  Also at the bottom of the email it's telling me to reply with tracking details and proof of postage for verification before the money will appear on my available balance.  Is this a scam? I've never sold anything through paypal so I'm not really sure how it works.  I don't know if the email is legit but I can't see why I can't see where my money is even though I haven't shipped the item.  If I were to recieve an email from paypal I have no idea what the email address would be.

Hello @Acoffield94

Welcome to the PayPal Community, and congratulations on your first post!

I'm sorry to hear that you received an email about a payment, but the payment isn't showing in your PayPal account. Emails from PayPal will always come from a PayPal domain; they will not have a Gmail domain. You can learn how to spot and report fake, fraudulent, spoof, or phishing emails on our Help Center. If you do receive a payment, it will automatically deposit into your PayPal balance as long as your email is confirmed. Please do not ship items until you can verify that the transaction is showing in your PayPal account.

I hope this information helps!
