Payment on hold!attach $24 approval charge to the approval

I received a large sum and they sent me a gmail saying Payment on hold! Beneficiary is required to attach $24 approval charge to the approval account for reflection of payment on balance. What do i do? It was sent via square

Just ignore them because you’re being scammed. PayPal doesn’t use gmail to send you payment confirmation. They use their own domain, PayPal.com PayPal does not charge an approval fee in order for you to see payment in your PayPal account. If someone really paid, PayPal just deducts their fee out of the incoming payment and gives you the rest. And what does all this have to do with Square anyway? Another reason why it’s all a scam. A payment sent through Square cannot be received in your PayPal account.
