Need advice, Digital river unauthorized pay, how to tighten security?

I noticed today something odd in my account, I was charged about 10 euros from a company known as Digital river, I never dealt with them before and after a bit or research I found out they deal with digital transactions and services. I have checked all my accounts embedded to paypal and have not found anything related to them - just in case I did so - and really have no clue to how they managed to charge me.

I was wondering other than setting down a dispute, and changing all security questions and passwords, what else should I do? Should I consider my credit card in danger and cancel it? I heard sometimes some frauds charge small amounts before wiping your account clean to see if they get away with it.

Also has anyone else been scammed by these people? What did you do?

Digital river is an ecommerce payment company. They don't fraudulently take your money. They partner with companies like Samsung, Microsoft, razr, McAfee, avast, etc. If you buy from those websites, your charge may show up as from digital river. They also handle subscriptions. A lot of times what happens is people accept a free trial for a product, like anti virus, and forget to cancel and it auto renews. Be careful what you are accepting. Digital river just handles the orders and payments submitted by partner companies.

Today I received an email notification from PayPal about a charge of $89.99 by Digital River Ireland, Ltd. for DRI*AVAST Software.

I never asked for it. my current AVAST subscription is valid until 21 of February 2021. Also, I didn't receive any follow-up email from AVAST about this unknown purchase.

I opened a dispute with PayPal about it, saying it was unauthorized activity, and they reply to me that they determined there was no unauthorized use and due to that will not repay me back. I sent now an email to AVAST in hoping they will fix it. I truly feel that companies can "play" with my PayPal account, and PayPal will not do anything. I also tried to call PayPal help center by the auto message saying they are not working during Covid-19...

what else I can do? I feel I should close my PayPal account if this is their service...

Me too, 12 June 2020 for £74.99, assured by PayPal, that the payment 'was no unauthorised' ? - but would provide no proof of authorisation.

I have found out today that I have 4 different payments pending on my bank account with Avast 3 £34.99 and 1 £64.99 though when looking on PayPal it is showing no transaction activity and I don't have any pre-approved payments though I got the email from PayPal about the transactions. Because there are no transactions showing on PayPal I can't even take it up with them. My bank has said they can't do anything till the payments have come out which will leave me out of pocket.

Hi...Yes they ripped me off too.....I have just claimed my money back with paypal but doubt if I get it.

Perhaps Paypal should really go into deeper to find out about these sellers in Asian countries...I was put through the mill when I joined Paypal

Wonder they didn't ask what I had for breakfast....All countries have their dishonest people but China especially takes the cake...Even said it was from Australia....Who ever checks these people be more serious please    Lots of people are losing money...Paypal has a moral duty to look after people who have joined in trust
