I bought a pair of shoes from a website that turned out to be fraudulent. I even reported them to the Federal Trade Commission and the website was shut down within days. Unfortunately, that made my case with PayPal pretty weak because now the website I bought the shoes through does not exist, I received no confirmation email after purchasing the shoes, no order number, literally nothing. All I got was a "donation" made to some LLC from my PayPal for the amount the shoes cost. I just want my money back since I will never be receiving the shoes. How do I do that with literally no proof or evidence to show PayPal other than this bogus donation? HELP.

Unfortunately, donations are not covered under PayPal buyer protection. You may try a credit card chargeback if that is how you paid but no guarantees since it was a donation.
You did not see any mention of donation during the checkout process? If you ever see the word donation during checkout, back out of it, then an order/authorization won’t be created on the merchant side for the merchant to capture funds even though it would be initiated on your end.
Note: Uncaptured authorizations (which temporarily reserves the purchase amount at your card or bank account) eventually expire and drop off.
Since you didn’t receive an order nor any confirmation email…do you still see an authorization/transaction listed in your PayPal Activity page as Pending? Or is it Completed? If Pending, you must wait until it expires and drops off. If it is still listed as Pending beyond 30 days, contact PayPal asking them to void it. If Completed, you’ll have to try a chargeback.
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

"I even reported them to the Federal Trade Commission and the website was shut down within days."
How did you pull this off? I tried everything I could to get something done about a website I was scammed by, and they did nothing.
Concerning how to get your money back, kiss it goodbye, it's gone. There are loopholes big enough to drive a truck through concerning how scammers can get your money...and actually keep it...and the scammers appear to be even more knowledgeable than Paypal concerning how their internal mechanisms work, so they know how to steal your money...and steal it with Paypal's blessing.
Sorry.

I'm not sure my specific report is what shut them down, but the website I reported was very obviously fraudulent, so it's very possible they took one look, rolled their eyes and said "NOPE". I didn't look at the entire website until after I made my purchase, but once I did it became obvious. Every single item was for sale for the exact same amount. Including $10k Gucci, LV, and other designer brands. Plus you could change the wesite url which would change the price of the item to whatever price you wanted. Soooo yeah. I think this website was just obviously fraud. I've never had any other website i've reported been taken down.
