refunding more than the original amount

I made a mistake and got 2 items mixed up in the post.  I sent a partial refund to each buyer to cover costs of repostage.  One of the buyers no longer wants the item.  i would like to refund the full amount inc the original postage as this is only fair as it was not his mistake.  Paypal will not let me do this.  how can I give him his money back please?

Hi there shirleybay,

I'm guessing we are stopping you from refunding as you do not have enough funds in your account. You can add funds and then try issue the refund.

Here’s how to add funds:

1. Log in to your PayPal account at www.paypal.co.uk
2. Click ‘Add Funds’ near the top of the page.
3. Click ‘Transfer Funds from a Bank Account in the United Kingdom’.
4. Select the bank account you wish to add funds from.
5. Enter the amount you wish to add.
6. Click ‘Continue.’
7. Review the details and click ‘Submit.’
8. Click ‘View the details of this transaction’ to see the expected clearing date for the funds transfer.

The funds will arrive in your PayPal account balance in approximately 5 to 7 working days.

I hope this information helps you

Wayne

Thanks but this was not the problem, the funds were there but as I had already sent the buyer a partial refund, it would only let me refund him the rest of the money that he had paid. (he paid 11 in total, i refunded him 3 to send the item back as it was my mistake so the most it would let me refund him was 😎 anyway in the end i rang paypa and they told me how to to it.  you send the money as a gift

thanks for replying

You cannot refund more than the original payment.

You would have to use the send money tab to send them an additional payment to cover the return postage costs.
