Hello,

I ordered an item from a website and payed with my Credit Card (NOT with PayPal). The order was cancelled and the company said that they refunded my money and that they sent a refund to my PayPal account. I've checked my paypal account and there is no info on this refund in my transaction history. The seller gave me a Refund Unique Transaction ID but I'm not sure what to do with it. Please help me with this issue because I don't know what to do and why isn't refund showing up on my account.

Thanks.

19 jan £25 sent to saleswanted etc      This is not an invalid account with you, didn't realise. I should have made the payment to The British Harpsicord Society which I did on 7 February and they received £25.  Paypal has held the £25 in limbo. I don't know how to get it back to my account. On the 6 february I cancelled payment tosaleswanted etc. and this shows completed and a further entry on 6 february shows Transfer to credit card Completed. I have re-entered the accountt of my debit card to receive this money today 17 february. So will I receive the money now?

Hey malcolm0wysard,

When you see transfer to credit card completed this means the funds have left PayPal and are being returned to your card.

You say you can see these funds on your card statement on the 17th of Feb yes?

Hey there, if you were sent an incorrect e-mail address by your seller via eBay. Then there may be an option to cancel the “unclaimed” payment. Once cancelled the payment is restored back to yourself. It goes something like this. A payment made using your PayPal balance will go back to your PayPal balance. A payment using your banks direct debit transfer will go back to your PayPal balance as well. There may be a delay in this as it can take several days for PayPal to process funds from your bank to your PayPal account; we may then “hold” your payment, until the funds from the bank clear. Once cleared, they will go straight to the PayPal balance.

In the case of malcolm0wysard, payments made from cards (debit or credit) will go straight back to the card once cancelled or reversed. The timeframe for getting back the funds really depends on your card issuer and their timeframes. Credit cards tend to take much longer to process back the payment than debit cards. With debit cards it is a matter of days, credit cards can take up to 30 days. Hope that helps you all.

Hi bobtallents,

When you look back through your transaction history on PayPal, can you see the refund being issued? If so, what is the status of the refund? If it is showing as “completed” and you made your original payment using a card, the refund will automatically be sent back to the card.

If the status is showing as “removed” or “cancelled”, you would need to contact your seller and request that they reissue the refund to you. If they do not do this, you can open a dispute against the payment for up to 45 days from the date of your transaction.

If you need further assistance with this, please contact Customer Services and we can look into your account specifically.

Hope this helps,

Maria

I ordered an item from a website(Gearbest) and payed with my Credit Card (NOT with PayPal). The order was cancelled and the company said that they refunded my money and that they sent a refund to my PayPal account. I've checked my paypal account and there is no info on this refund in my transaction history. The seller gave me a Refund Unique Transaction ID but I'm not sure what to do with it. and the paypal told me and give me authorization code to give to the banks which i later give to them (card issuer)but until now the refund still didn't reflect to my mastercard debit/credit card account and paypal didn't reply me anymore to my emails. Please help me with this issue because I don't know what to do and why isn't refund showing up on my account.

Hello Ralphwalter! Thank you for your post and welcome to the PayPal Community! It sounds like your purchase was completed as 'guest user'. If the seller completed a refund for the payment that you made as a guest, the funds are returned to the card that you used. I recommend taking a look at the card statement where you should see both the debit and credit. If you are unable to locate the funds, you can contact your card issuer as they will be able to complete a full review of the refunds that you might have received. Hope this helps. - Carlos
