I ordered a product from Home Depot online( it was back ordered) paying with a debit card through pay pal. Home Depot online wouldn't allow the order to go through because of the back order. I then called the toll free number(Home Depot) and they were able to place the order, billing my debit card(again). I am trying to cancel the payment made through pay pal with no success. HELP!

Hi aragondl, and welcome to the forums!
If you contact the merchant and explain what happened, they should can log into their PayPal account and refund the payment. While it is probable that the payment did not go through on their own system software, it would still show up for them on their PayPal account, and they could manually refund it from there. That is the only way that the seller can indicate permission to cancel the initial order.
I hope this helps!
