Not getting some payment notification emails

I get PayPal payments about 5-10 times a week, but there have several payments in the last few weeks for which I did not receive any email notification.  Usually I use that email to let me know that I need to ship orders, so some things were shipped late because I did not realize that they had paid until a couple of days had passed.  If checked my deleted mail, junk mail, spam-filtered mail, etc., and they're not in any of those places either.  Is anyone else having this problem?  Any advice?

I also have finally gotten (Thursday) email notification that I had received a payment, thought it was 6 hours after the payment was made.

I don't under stand why people that have PayPal app on their iPhones are getting instant notifications while those of us that use regular email seem to have a delay anywhere from 2-6 hours. It is not due to a delay with my email provider because I get all of my other emails right away.

What I usually have not had a problem with receiving is the notification that I had sent an invoice but I did not get one for this payment.

I am completly confused as to why this is a problem and why it seems to be ok for a while and then the issue returns. If it is working, then it should stay working and not be an intermittant issue that spans overa  period of years.

The email notification for the transaction I mentioned above has arrived -- two hours after I received the notification from the PayPal app on my iPhone. Email headers suggest the delay was within PayPal's internal network. Not good, but at least it worked this time.

I also did not receive notification of payment and now because of timeline to ship buyer is asking for refund or file a case against me.  Because of it being a superbowl item and wanting it by then this may cost me money or bad feedback.

Olivia~ thanks for keeping us posted.  Why didn't/doesn't PayPal send out an email letting members know that there is an issue with notification of payment emails and that they (the member) needs to check their account for payments received and not rely on these emails?  When one is use to always receivng notifications and all of a sudden, without any notification from PayPal of issues, one would think that they have not been paid.

Also, I very disappointed in PayPal for not fessing up to the problem on their end and making it sound like it was our email provider spam filter, or the settins we had set up in PayPal, etc.

My problem is back again now I just had a buyer call mad because they paid and did not receive any confirmation emails from me. Here's my theory the problem was fixed for 4 days last week and yesterday it started back again I believe that perhaps Pay Pal has a technician that, either has no clue and keeps **bleep**ing stuff up, or is purposely **bleep**ing stuff up.

I have worked with a lot of developers and most of the time they are very book smart but have no common sense, and they tend to try and over "fix" stuff which in turn causes more problems.  I believe that is the very same issue. I would recommend Pay Pal evaluate who is working on this I believe that is where the problem lies.

Yep.. someone is gumming up the works.  Worked fine for a few days, then earlier today I personally processed someone's credit card for their phone order via Virtual Terminal, and normally I get those emails right away.  This email didn't come through until just now (several hours later).  On the bright side, at least it DID come through, finally. Smiley Mad

tictactogs.. excellent suggestion.  PayPal should notify everyone letting them know there IS a problem and telling them to check their accounts periodically so others won't have to lose business or have angry customers.  Same goes for EBay customers!!  It's only common courtesy!!

This has been happening to me since PayPal upgraded their invoice template system.  As soon as I used the new template, *bam* no email notifications for me and buyers reported that they had not even received my invoice.  I called PayPal and they said they were working on it, but still haven't been receiving anything through the new invoicing system.  As a workaround, I'm now using the "short form" invoice from the Request Money option, which works, but it looks really unprofessional and I've had to explain to customers that it's because PayPal is having problems - not only unprofessional, but it could lead to customers not trusting me and my payment system, and not buying from me because of the inconvenience and glitches.  Not sure when to trust the new invoicing system, and if it doesn't get fixed soon, I'm considering going to Google Checkout instead.  This is total inexcusable, especially if you, like me, depend on these payments and you want to give good customer service.  People's reputations and livelihoods depend on being able to bill customers & get payments in a timely manner.   I cannot understand why PayPal didn't test this new upgrade 5 million ways before springing it on their own *paying* customers.  No wonder people don't trust PayPal.

Hi Rebel I see your new here before considering Google I would recommend you read the link I posted earlier from Googles own forums we're complaining over some emails but their problems are much worse than ours or simply read this link  I think you'll change your mind about Google pretty fast.

Wow - thanks JG.  I had no idea Google Checkout was that bad.  I will think twice about that, but my comments about PayPal still stand.

Welcome rebelrebel!  Are you a 'cotton pickin' rebel?  I am by marriage!  Smiley Tongue

Question.. does anyone know of any other alternatives other than PayPal and Google??  Getting tired of not being able to trust what I have now!

As I've said previously.. they have no problems charging me a monthly fee for the Virtual Terminal or a % of each payment collected.. that's not a problem IF I knew I had a payment so I can take care of business and keep my customers happy!
