Money I received now shows Cancelled?

There were a lot of similar topics but none quite the same as my issue.  I sold an item on ebay.  The $$ were added to my paypal account so I shipped it.

I transferred my funds to my normal bank account as I normally do.  I look today and it shows "cancelled - Issue Refund" for that transaction status on Paypal.  Never got any email from the buyer, it seems getting communication from people on eBay is non-existant nowadays.  Never got notified from paypal that I owe anyone a refund.  Is this a normal situation or some sort of scam for the buyer to get his money back?

I emailed the buyer again, and Paypal.  Is there any more I need to do?  Or wait for replies from either?  I will not refund anything without my product back, you don't walk into a store and ask for money back without what you bought as well in hand.

Oh, and top of all that, there is no official 'dispute' in the reslution center, yet it has a box to issue a refund and tells me i have up to 60 days to do so.

Thanks

Tom

EDIT:  it seems the UPS status was shown as 'cancelled' even though I view the tracking number and it clearly says "received by" and the buyer's name.   Maybe when i entered the tracking number in on ebay it defaulted the status to cancelled?

It sounds like as soon as the buyer knew you were sending the product, they went to cancel the order, knowing the product was shipped.

If UPS can show proof that it was delivered, then you need to show that proof to PayPal & eBay.

Hi TommyC, and welcome to the forums!

The Issue Refund capability is on every transaction you receive for 60 days. It's just a link that allows you to issue a refund, if appropriate.

The status of canceled - where are you seeing this? If the payment is showing completed in your transaction history, I'm not certain where the word canceled would be showing? Is it showing in your PayPal account or your eBay account?

If you post those answers here, we can see if we can figure it out with you. If you would like a representative to go over the specific payment with you, give Customer Solutions a call by clicking Contact Us at the bottom of any PayPal page and selecting to call us.

I would definitely do as tservers suggested and hang onto that tracking and proof of delivery. If a dispute comes up over whether or not an item was received, it will be the key to your protection.

I hope this helps!

When you look at the main page, under 'order status/action' for the main summary of all transactions, it showed cancelled in the box and had 'send refund' highlighted.

I verified the tracking number I linked to the ebay auction and also to paypal and it showed up as received and signed by the buyers last name.  All I did was edit shipping info to 'shipped' on paypal and it went away, so hopefully something just didn't transfer over from ebay's end, or the buyer tried to scam me, it is a very expensive item.  It had me concerned when I saw cancelled the day he received his product though.  I had also emailed paypal customer service, but I guess that won't be needed since no case was actually submitted.  The 'resolution center' is empty as of this time.

I had that same thing happen to me and it was because I edited the tracking number on EBay.  On paypal it showed the original tracking number and cancelled.  Like you I changed the status to shipped again and it went away.  I think this is a glitch between EBay and Paypal if you edit the shipping details on EBay it doesn't get automatically edited on Paypal.
