Do I need to add my bank account to receive money?

I recently had someone pay for an item on ebay and they used paypal, and the transaction must still be processing. I received an email saying that it was in transaction, but i still never received it. I have my debit card linked but not my bank account. do i need the bank account linked or no?

Welcome to the boards!

You do not have to have a bank account on file to receive funds - however, there may be a few things happening with the email you received. 

I would start by making sure that your current email address is confirmed, and double checking the auction details to see which email address the payment was directed to.  If that email address is not on your account, add and confirm it and the payment will post!
