Will PayPal roll over to credit card when I use up my prepaid gift card balance (AMEX)?

I'm buying a $70 item with a $50 gift card and would like to know if it'll roll over to credit card or if I'll be left with a negative balance.

No. Card has to be able to cover entire purchase or it simply declines.
