Not being able to simply record payment of invoices

Hello dear friends.

I'm having issues to simply record payments for "some" PayPal invoices.

THE CONTEXT: I created invoices to be sent to clients through PayPal and some others to be downloaded as PDF (For so long i've been doing this) and sent via email. Some payments are done via PayPal, and some of them are paid some other non-paypal way (like transfer, check, etc.). Now, when I receive the payment through non-paypal method, I need to record payment (so the invoice is no longer pending). I click the 3 dots on the right side of the invoice row, click "Record Payment", a dialog pops up to detail the payment, I complete the form and click the button "Record Payment". Here, it should simply mark the invoice as Paid, and done, BUT...

THE ISSUE: Everything works until I hit the last button... it keeps saying in a big red label above "Looks like something went wrong. Try again later.".

A few days ago happened, I waited... tried today, and only recorded one of the invoices, then it kept saying the same message without recording the payments.

I'd appreciate your help on this.

Same issue here i'm not sure what happened on the backend as this error just started happening around two weeks ago. Prior to that I was able to close out invoices with no issues. WIll need to call Paypal directly for support I feel.

@suarezasdrubal  @atdavidlee  Exactly the same problem here, but I found a way around it!

Usually, I don't send my invoices via the PayPal system but just 'print as PDF' and then send by email, and mostly I receive payment by non-PayPal means. This leaves the invoices status as 'Draft'. Since this problems started a few days ago, I now explicitly change the invoice status to 'Shared' by clicking the three vertical dots, then selecting 'Share link', and when the next window pops up, I just close it (without sharing anything) and after that the invoice status changes to 'Shared'.

I've found that after I've done this this I can then record a payment in the usual way.

I hope this work for you too, and helps you!

By the way, this is just another of those annoying "what did PayPal do in the background?" problems that happens seemingly every few weeks. I find there's regularly problems of one kind or another, which is very frustrating!

Hey that worked! One extra small step but at least now I can properly organize my invoices being paid out.

Great work!

I tried the "Click SHARED" trick but it came up with the same error message. Can I do it with an existing invoice, or does it only work with a new invoice?

After 24hr+ of contacting Paypal support without any solution (and very poor communication, of course), this tweak "worked" at least to let my invoices organized. Thank you very much. It took me to Share and Mark record payment for each invoice.
