Pending payment

Hi. I sold an item on depop and the girl asked to pay via paypal rather than depop which seemed strange but i was fine with. She said she paid but nothing came through on my end. However i got an email from paypal transactions which i have never got before saying i’ll not get the payment until she agrees she’s recieved the item? On my paypal i can’t get any of these details up just on the email. How can i be sure this is even real or that she will say she’s recieved the item when it gets to her?

To be honest Paypal are not involved as none of the transaction would have been done using Paypals site.

If all you gave her was your personal email and NOT your password !! and no other info when you clicked on those links then you should be ok.

If there was anything bad your antivirus would / should have warned you.

This is a typical scam ..................

They encourage you to accept a 'direct' Paypal payment and may ask you to send the item internationally.
No funds or activity of the transaction shows in your Paypal account and any emails 'may' go into your junk or spam folders.

They don't quibble on cost and may also say they can't view the item as they are disabled or working abroad etc etc but they will arrange a shipping agent to collect it.

You will get/got a "fake" email that looks as though it is from paypal.....it isn't because they don't actually have a Paypal account and have no intention of paying you.
It will say the buyer has paid ...you won't have been paid.
They will tell you that the payment is released when you provide paypal with a tracking/shipping number......this won't happen.

Paypal NEVER tell you to send an item before the payment is showing in your paypal account.
Paypal do not tell you to send trackable, they advise it for selling protection but it is not compulsory.

Delete any emails and ignore the scammers.

@kernowlass they also asked me for my personal email address. I have reported the account to depop and emailed the fraud team for paypal but i gave her it and i’m wondering if she now has access to my account from me clicking links & giving my personal email?

The email address has been removed, this is because these scammers use hijacked i.d's and email addresses and you could be naming or putting an innocent persons email address on this public forum when they are trying to recover their email account.
