Pending Refund

I have a refund pending in Paypal for more than 1 week. I've already contacted the merchant who refunded me. They said Paypay should have refunded me long time ago, and suggested me to contact Paypal. 

I called and messaged Paypal Help Centre, but found Paypal's help was rather useless. 

I actually received two refunds from the merchant. One had been received, but the other one is still pending. It usually doesn't take this much time to process a refund. Can anyone suggest me how to get my refund back from Paypal asap? I have little confidence in them now.

Pending refunds can only happen for two reasons.

1. The seller has issued a refund from their bank account which takes time to process.

2. You funded the payment to the seller using bank transfer. What PayPal do here is credit the recipient on your behalf (so there is no delay in despatching your item). Then if you receive a refund in the meantime they are unable to issue this until the original bank transfer completes.
