Pay After Delivery not working?

Hi,

I am wondering is anyone else getting problems with Pay After Delivery? I have tried to use it the other day but it is no longer appearing up not even on eBay. It was working for me the other week without any problems but when I tried to buy something recently I am not getting that option anymore. I have checked my account and it is still active but all the sites I use no longer has it as an option so I am wondering has anyone else has this problem?

Thanks in advice.

Having the same problem in Canada, been using it for years, then about 3 weeks back, not available any more. It still show as Active in my account with the option to pause it - I tried changing primary payment methods, pausing and reactivating the PAD, no dice. They have some limitation in their system that has tripped up. I know it's not amounts, I've had 3 or four transactions under PAD, it's the only way yo buy when shipping takes weeks. And I've had PADs for over $1100, so it isn't the amount. Tried calling CS, they don't even tell you the contact centre is closed and not taking calls - they say there is much higher call volumes due to Covid, then when there is finally no other option to choose after going through the phone maze, THEN the message tells tell you there's actually nobody there and they're closed. Nobody else works from home on a phone?

Ja I've had the same issue, works fine for ages and then just disappears, then it'll magically reappear and act as if nothing happened... I've even had a purchase where I didnt select it (couldn't as it did its famous disappearing act) and yet it appeared on my account as having been selected there's obviously a glitch here somewhere and its damned annoying.

They told me that my account is under a security check which takes between 24 to 48 hours to go through and if I attempt to use the Pay After Delivery it will reset and I will have to wait again. I honestly, don't know if this is true or not. I see what happens within the next couple of days then.

Pretty sure that's a CSR who just doesn't know why it's happening. I have not had a security check EVER, and been using PAD as my choice for years, with some purchases in the 100's and 1000's of dollars and several at one. No problemo. But it looks lIke 3 weeks ago or so, a group of us got troubled by no option for PAD. Their system glitches because something didn't auto-update or get manually updated, and the only way I persosnally have been able to get it fixed in the past is to call them and have them reset my account limits and preferred payment on THEIR end. No luck today though, nobody is there and phones are closed....

I got a reply back from PayPal customer service and it is not down to a security check like they were claiming it to be on Twitter but actually down to COVid19.

This is what they said to me

"PayPal After Delivery is not available for the moment to avoid risk for us. Many customers cannot pay the payments because the COVid19 so this option is not working for the moment

we cannot take the risk with the reverse of the payments so I hope you understand right now nobody can use it"

I hope this helps everyone else who is also having this problem.

If that is the truth from them (my trust is somewhat eroded) it makes more sense. Even two hours ago someone contacted me via chat and gave me the 48 hour security check spiel. However, many people are still working full time, and Paypal ** still has access to the back-up credit card that is required to secure our PAD**. It is in my opinion, inappropriate to tar all customers with the same brush and just assume nobody can pay. Paypal's a major financial corporation in the Fortune 500 with its own credit card, and they deal in limited risk, as do all credit issuers. I think suspending off PAD is shabby service. I have NEVER not had funds in the bank to cover online buys. Guess it's credit cards from now on, and less of that buying since I hate putting anything on a cc when I can just budget for cash and direct deposit of my pay. NOTHING more on impulse or quick decision. Fewer charity donations of which I've made more than average due to greater needs of various groups at this time... Sadly, I will stick to the ones I can etransfer to. So all in all, less Paypal fees and earnings for Paypal... Anyway, thank YOU for sharing, Tai101!!

@Tai101 , just to let you know - what PayPal have told you sounds a bit suspect.  My PAD options have disappeared too, despite it showing as active on my account.  So my wife and I tried something out.  We tried 11 different sellers (some on eBay, some elsewhere) - on EVERY SINGLE ONE she was offered PAD as an option, I was not.  This was today, 22nd April, between 17:00 & 17:20, UK Time. I am still waiting for a response from PayPal as to what the heck is going on, because clearly the "reason" they appear to have provided you is a load of guff.

I'll post their response if and when I get it.

Take care, all!

Well it bloomin' well DOES sound 'suspect' if your wife or ANYONE has PAD. I just had to use a Visa to buy exhaust manifolds for my husband's truck not 10 minutes ago, and no PAD - and I did not buy anything within the 48 hours recommended (just becsuse there was nothing we wanted to buy). I wish they would not misinform us, and would get agents working from home to resolve the problems we just can't fix on our own. Very disappointing of PP. THANK YOU, BigAudio.

Update! I’ve finally had a half-response from customer services. They have confirmed that there ARE some restrictiins on PAD during the current C19 crisis, and that some sellers are not accepting PAD transactions as a result. She’s yet to respond to my query regarding my wife being able to buy but me not being able to from the same seller, however. So there ARE restrictions- it would have been so much better if they’d have sent out a blanket email to every user saying exactly that, and that as a result PAD usage can be a bit hit and miss. It’s knocked my confidence in them a bit tbh, this lack of communication. If I hear anything else, I’ll post again. Take care and keep safe!

Hey BigAudio 🙂 Bear this in mind when you think about that CSR's answer to you- sellers NEVER SEE PAD, and don't get the option to choose to accept it or not.--- Sellers are *paid instantly* by Paypal when we use PAD, so if a seller accepts Paypal, they accept whatever method Paypal pays them with, they only see the payment- they have no clue what payment methods we paypal clients have in our accounts. That concept is the *entire point of Paypal * -- to secure our payment methods so a seller has zero information to keep secure and possibly lose or misuse. All THEY know is paypal is paying them. These CSRs are I am sure being left at odds by Paypal, to fend for themselves and tty to think up reasons. It seems we are being 'baffled by BS', or like the musical 'Chicago' says, 'razzle-dazzled'. BAD FORM PAYPAL, bleeding bad form.
