Old Email Issues

I recently paid for an online workshop with my PayPal account. I see the transaction listed in my activity. The instructor reached out because an email to me bounced. It looks like an old email address was sent to him instead of the current one on my account. The old email is one I recognize and changed sometime ago. I can't find the old email on my account anywhere. I need to make sure it is removed and my current email is reflecting correctly on payments I send. If it matters, I believe I used the app on my iPhone to send payment.

Hi marbleswords,

Oh no! That would definitely be a concern. You can check your active emails and remove anything unwanted using the details here. If you don't see the email address on your PayPal account, is it possible the old email is on the website you used to pay for the workshop? I would advise checking with the merchant to see if your old email is associated with the payment that way. I hope this helps!

It was my first purchase with the merchant so I don't see how he would have a previous email for me. I used the settings near my name and my current email address is the only one that shows on my account. I'm checking with a couple of friends who I've sent funds to to see how my email appears to them, but at this point it seems as if the old email is still somehow tied to my account. Also, I checked the box on my initial post to "email me when someone replies to my post" and I never received any sort of notification. 😞

Hi @marbleswords,

I'm sorry to hear that your old email is somehow being sent as part of your transaction. That's really strange! If the steps given by Ashley do not show the old email address, it sounds like further troubleshooting will be needed from customer service.

To contact customer service, please click Contact at the bottom of the PayPal website for available options, or reach out by Facebook or Twitter.

It's also possible that the email address issue described is causing the notification emails to go to the old address, if the system has somehow stayed tied to it. That may be why you did not get an update that the post received a reply.

I hope this can be resolved quickly!

Olivia
