Has anyone ever had a problem being refunded from a seller by an eCheque?

I bought an expensive item on eBay which was faulty, so I opened a return case and sent the item back and the seller refunded me via an eCheque. This was the first time I’ve been refunded with an eCheque and not happy with it. It’s been 7 days and they refunded has not cleared, I do believe it can take 7-10 working days for though. I have read horror stories of eCheques being cancelled and not always guaranteed a refund, which is stupid. If mine gets cancelled for any reason then what do I do? It was an expensive item and can’t afford to lose the money. I just want to know if anyone has had any problems with eCheques? Thanks for taking the time to read. 😊

A seller can only refund via funds in their paypal balance OR from their bank account.

Transfers from bank accounts are not instant, that is why when you buy from a seller and fund it from your bank account paypal CREDIT the seller upfront and paypal wait for the funds to transfer from your bank account (this is so the depatch of your item is not delayed) and why its called ''instant transfer''.

However if the seller is refunding from their bank account then paypal do not credit the refund upfront, this time its you and the seller that has to wait for the echeque (electronic transfer) to clear.

Paypal use electronic and not wire transfer for these bank transfers as its a cheaper option.

Thanks for the reply. Will I 100% get my money back with this eCheque refund? Thank you!

As long as the seller has enough money in their bank account to 'fund' the refund then yes.

Echeques can fail if the seller does not have enough money in their bank account but no reason why that would be if she has issued the refund is there.

The seller should have enough funds in their bank account as they are selling lots of other items too. This was the first eCheque refund I’ve had and was sceptical about it. Thanks for your help, your very informative and helpful and put my mind at rest!
