Seller wants me to close my dispute before he processes the refund. Not only were the items received damaged, they were not what were represented. If I close the dispute, can it be reopened if the seller doesn't follow through? He is contacting me personally through email.

If you had to close a case to get a refund then it would be pointless opening one.
NEVER close a dispute / claim until you have a refund.
If the seller issued a refund then that would close the dispute automatically.
If he doesn't escalate to a claim.
Do not close it or he can ignore you and you can't open a second dispute OR re-open a closed one.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Thanks....I was finally able to talk directly (almost 80 minutes on hold, but worth it) with a PayPal CS rep and he also said once I close it, there is no going back. They closed the case in my favor and I received a full refund. Thanks for your time in answering and your correct advice.
